Our Story

The American Opera Society of Chicago, founded in 1921 by Edith Rockefeller McCormick and Eleanor Everest Freer, aims to promote opera sung in English. Merging with the David Bispham Memorial Fund in 1924, the organization has since dedicated itself to supporting all opera in Chicago.
