Our Story
Founded in 1919 in memory of Lieutenant Edward C. Headman, who lost his life in France during World War I, American Legion Post 217 has been a cornerstone of the Wyandotte community. With its charter obtained in 1920, the Post has a rich history of service, including initiatives like the Poppy Drive and 'Toys for Tots'. The Post has resided in its current location since 1923, contributing to various charitable efforts such as relief for widows and orphans of servicemen and supporting local youth programs like Boy Scouts and Legion Baseball.
