Our Story

The American Judicature Society (AJS) was founded in 1913 to advocate for the efficient administration of justice. As the original citizen organization for fair courts, AJS responded to calls for law reform by working nationally to protect the integrity of the American justice system. Through research, publications, education, and advocacy, AJS has modernized judicial selection processes and strengthened judicial ethics across many states.

Impact

AJS has significantly contributed to the development of the 'Missouri Plan' for judicial selection and the establishment of state judicial conduct commissions, enhancing access to justice and promoting transparency in judicial proceedings.
