Our Story

The American Behcet's Disease Association was founded in 1978 by Sheila Gregory, a devoted mother seeking support for her child with Behcet's Disease. Originally named the American Behcet's Foundation, the organization has evolved to better serve the needs of the Behcet's community. Incorporated as a nonprofit in 1987 and granted 501(c)(3) status in 1989, the ABDA is now based in Feasterville, Pennsylvania, with a dedicated network of volunteers and board members nationwide.
