Our Story
The American Association of AdaptED Sports Programs was founded in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia, inspired by the spirit of the 1996 Paralympic Games. This organization is dedicated to developing interscholastic adapted sports programs for students with physical disabilities, ensuring they have equitable opportunities in school athletics.
Impact
Since its inception, AAASP has engaged over 7,034 athletes in adapted sports, significantly enhancing their physical and emotional well-being, as well as their academic performance. The organization has successfully integrated adapted sports into traditional school athletic programs, breaking down barriers and changing perceptions about the capabilities of students with physical disabilities.
