Our Story

The Saint Catherine Foundation is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the essential works needed to conserve, preserve, study, and share the unique heritage of St Catherine’s Monastery in Sinai, Egypt. This UNESCO World Heritage site is home to the world’s largest collection of Byzantine icons and one of the most significant collections of Christian manuscripts, second only to the Vatican. Since 1996, the foundation has undertaken vital preservation projects and promoted public research and education surrounding the Monastery’s library, architecture, icons, and treasures.
