Our Story

In 1990, Dr. Linnea Smith left her Wisconsin medical practice to serve the indigenous people of the Peruvian Amazon. Starting from a small thatched-roof room, she faced numerous challenges, including a lack of electricity and funding. By 1993, dedicated volunteers helped establish a riverside clinic equipped with solar panels and a well, ensuring access to essential health care.

Impact

Today, the clinic treats approximately 2,000 patients annually, offering vital health care services to a community that previously had no local access to medical care.
