The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) was founded in 1888 to establish standards and uniformity in amateur sport. With nearly 700,000 members and 150,000 volunteers, the AAU is dedicated to grassroots participation in sports across 41 programs and 55 U.S. districts.
The AAU administers the Presidential Youth Fitness Program, modernizing fitness education in schools and promoting youth sports participation nationwide. Hosting the largest multi-sport event in the country, the AAU Junior Olympic Games, the organization provides countless opportunities for youth to engage in athletics.
