Our Story

Founded in January 1982 by Roxie Ellis and Pam Higgins, Alternatives to Violence began as the Loveland Battered Women’s Task Force. Starting from the basement of the First United Methodist Church, the organization quickly evolved into Alternatives for Battered Women, providing essential support groups and education on domestic violence. Over the years, ATV expanded its services to include men and children, culminating in the opening of the ATV SafeHouse in 2016, which offers emergency shelter for those in need.
