Our Story

Founded in 1987, Alternatives For Girls began as a community initiative in southwest Detroit, providing essential support to girls and young women. What started as a small, volunteer-run program has transformed into a multi-service agency with over 75 dedicated employees, committed to helping those facing homelessness and other risks.

Impact

In 2023, AFG provided critical support to 94 young women and their 35 children, offering unique nights of shelter care and resources for domestic violence survivors.
