Our Story

Birthed out of the energy crisis of the 1970s on a front porch in downtown Billings, the Alternative Energy Resources Organization (AERO) was established to empower Montanans with practical renewable energy solutions for their farms, ranches, and homes. AERO’s annual Expo has become a vital platform for sharing innovative ideas and addressing local issues, fostering community engagement and resilience.

Impact

Since its inception, AERO has paved the way for significant projects like the Judith Gap Wind Farm and the Montana Renewable Energy Association. Their initiatives have demonstrated that Montana can meet its energy needs sustainably while enhancing local food production.
