Our Story

Established in 1970 by a dedicated group of local citizens, Alliance on Aging is committed to helping seniors in Monterey County live safely and independently in their own homes. From its humble beginnings as a volunteer-driven initiative, AOA has evolved into a comprehensive agency offering a variety of essential services tailored to the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities.

Impacting Lives

In 2021, AOA made a significant difference in the lives of nearly 2,000 individuals seeking assistance with tax counseling, resulting in over $1.6 million in refunds. Additionally, Medicare counseling helped nearly 2,000 people save an estimated $1.3 million. Through outreach efforts, AOA provided vital resource information to over 8,000 community members, ensuring they have access to necessary support. The Ombudsman program conducted 445 facility visits, advocating for the safety and well-being of residents in skilled nursing facilities.
