Since 1994, Allegheny Youth Development has been dedicated to transforming the lives of North Side youth through a unique blend of academic support and social-emotional learning. Founded by concerned parents and educators, AYD emerged to fill the gap left by the closure of Youth Opportunities Unlimited, addressing the urgent needs of at-risk youth during a tumultuous summer in Pittsburgh.
AYD proudly boasts a 96% high school graduation rate among its alumni, with 92% either employed, serving in the military, or enrolled in higher education. The program maintains an impressive retention rate, ensuring that 86% of participants remain engaged until graduation.
