Our Story

The Louisiana History Museum, founded in the early 1970s by Angelique Stafford "Gic" Kraushaar, began with a few display cases in the Alexandria Genealogical Library. Today, it boasts over 50 exhibits, showcasing thousands of historic photographs and the esteemed Newcomb Collection. This museum is dedicated to collecting, presenting, and interpreting the history of Alexandria and Louisiana, preserving the stories and artifacts that have shaped the community.
