Our Story
Founded in the 1990s by the late Cynthia Murphy, the Alexander Academy of Performing Arts was born from a dream to make quality dance training accessible to all. Transforming the Old Kula Community Center into a donation-based dance studio, the Academy opened its doors to anyone willing to commit to the discipline of dance, regardless of their financial situation. Under the leadership of Danelle Watson Keenan since 2009, the Academy has expanded its curriculum to include contemporary, jazz, hip hop, tap, and more, while staying true to its mission of providing quality instruction and performance opportunities.
