Our Story

The Albuquerque Sign Language Academy was founded by passionate educators and parents who sought a transformative educational experience for deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing children. Frustrated by existing systems that separated families, they established a charter school dedicated to fostering unity through American Sign Language. This innovative approach not only enhances communication but also enriches the cultural experience of all students.

Impact

As the only state-certified dual-language ASL-English program in the nation, the ASL Academy is at the forefront of deaf education reform in New Mexico. Serving 100 students from grades K-12, the Academy emphasizes inclusion and support for students with diverse abilities, including those with special needs.
