Our Story

Founded in the Fall of 2006, the San Francisco Bay Area Fellows Program is part of a national network dedicated to cultivating emerging professionals committed to addressing unmet health needs. Bay Area Schweitzer Fellows, selected from graduate students across major universities, engage in impactful projects that tackle health disparities in their communities.

Impact

Since 2007, over 200 Schweitzer Fellows have contributed more than 40,000 hours of service to vulnerable communities in the Bay Area. Collaborating with nearly 150 community organizations across eight counties, these dedicated individuals implement yearlong projects focused on direct service.
