About the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship of Alabama

Founded in the Fall of 2015, the Alabama Fellows Program is part of a national initiative dedicated to cultivating a pipeline of emerging professionals equipped to tackle unmet health needs. Selected from various graduate and professional programs across Alabama, these dedicated Schweitzer Fellows work diligently to address health disparities in their communities.

Impact in Alabama

Since its inception, 125 Schweitzer Fellows have contributed over 27,445 hours of service to Alabama’s most vulnerable populations. Collaborating with over 89 community-based organizations across 12 counties, these Fellows have implemented yearlong projects focused on direct service.
