Our Story

Founded in 1979 as the Valley Women’s Resource Center, Alaska Family Services has been a beacon of hope for those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. With the opening of Margaret’s House in 1982, AFS provided a safe haven for women and children in Wasilla. Over the years, AFS has evolved, expanding its services to meet the diverse needs of the community, now offering over 20 programs including mental health support and child care assistance.

Impact

Each year, AFS serves over 10,000 individuals, empowering them to achieve independence and thrive.
