About Alameda County Science and Engineering Fair Association

The Alameda County Science and Engineering Fair Association (ACSEF) was founded with a vision to create an International Science Fair affiliated event in Alameda County, California. Supported by Intel and founding director Patti Carothers, ACSEF launched its first science fair in 2012, filling a significant gap in the region's educational landscape. This initiative not only provides students with the opportunity to showcase their scientific talents but also enables them to compete at the international level through affiliation with the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).

Impact on Students and Education

ACSEF encourages middle and high school students from various cities in Alameda County, including Oakland, Fremont, and Pleasanton, to participate in its annual science fair. Since its inception, participation has grown from nearly 300 students in 2012 to over 700 in 2017, reflecting a significant increase in student engagement and project quality. ACSEF also conducts outreach programs like Science Fair 101 workshops, enhancing science education in local classrooms.

Why Donate to ACSEF?

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, ACSEF relies on public donations to sustain its programs and initiatives. With the absence of a title sponsor for two years, funding has become critical. Donations of $25 or more directly support STEM education and help foster the next generation of scientists and engineers.
