Homeless Action Center
EIN: 94-3123953 · Berkeley, CA
Our Story
Founded in 1990, the Alameda County Homeless Action Center began as a small storefront in Berkeley with just one attorney and one advocate. Today, HAC has expanded to a dedicated team of over 80 professionals committed to providing high-quality public benefits advocacy at no cost to unhoused and disabled residents of Alameda County.
Impact
HAC's advocacy has transformed lives by significantly increasing clients' income. By assisting individuals in transitioning from General Assistance to Supplemental Security Income, HAC has tripled their monthly income from $336 to $1,182, enabling access to essential health care services.
