Our Story

GRACE Marketplace was established in 2014 as a culmination of nearly a decade of efforts to address homelessness in Alachua County. This initiative began with Project GRACE, a 10-year plan developed in 2005 to end homelessness by tackling root causes such as the lack of affordable housing. After years of planning and securing funding, GRACE opened its doors on May 5, 2014, on the site of the former Gainesville Correctional Institution, providing a one-stop shop for essential services aimed at helping individuals transition out of homelessness.

Impact

Since its opening, GRACE has served over 22,157 people, housed 3,127 individuals, and provided over 1.3 million meals through its Café 131. The organization has contributed to a 40% reduction in homelessness in Alachua County, demonstrating significant impact in the community.
