Our Story
The Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center was founded in 1990 by Myrtle Faye Rumph to honor her son, Al Wooten Jr., who was tragically murdered. Located in Los Angeles, the center provides a safe and nurturing environment for students in grades 3-12, focusing on good citizenship and academic excellence.
Impact
Each year, the Wooten Center serves over 400 students, offering free afterschool and summer programs that help them achieve educational success and personal development. The center is dedicated to helping students attain grade-level proficiency, high school graduation, and access to college and career opportunities.
