The Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV) was founded in the late 1960s to create a safe haven for surviving spouses of retired enlisted U.S. Airmen. Established by dedicated Air Force non-commissioned officers, with support from notable figures like General John D. Ryan and comedian Bob Hope, AFEV has evolved to serve all veterans and their surviving spouses, fostering a strong sense of military community.
