Aiken Civic Orchestra

Our Story

The Aiken Civic Orchestra began in 2012 with a vision to provide an ensemble experience for local musicians in the greater Aiken and Central Savannah River Area. Starting as a volunteer string ensemble of just 12 players, ACO has grown into a full symphonic orchestra, adding winds, brass, and percussion over the years. In February 2018, ACO proudly became a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to showcasing local talent through approximately 12 performances each season, featuring a diverse range of music from popular hits to classical masterpieces.

Impact

ACO has made significant contributions to the community, including performances for the CSRA Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Celebration and collaborations with the Aiken Composers’ Guild. ACO is particularly proud of its commitment to enriching the lives of young musicians, fostering a positive and lasting impact on the community.
