Our Story

AIDS Response Effort, Inc. (ARE) began nearly 30 years ago in Winchester, when a group of dedicated community members united to combat the AIDS crisis during the 1980s. Initially focused on establishing a support group and 'buddy' system for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, ARE has since expanded its services to include comprehensive medical and support offerings. These include physician visits, lab work, dental care, mental health services, substance use support, wellness programs, transportation, nutrition services, education, financial counseling, and housing assistance.
