Our Story
AIDS Assistance Program, known as AAP – Food Samaritans, was founded in 1991 by a dedicated group of community members, including Gloria Greene and Jeannette Rockefeller. The organization began with a mission to support low-income individuals affected by HIV/AIDS in the Greater Palm Springs area. Over the years, AAP has expanded its services to assist those suffering from cancer, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, liver disease, and other chronic illnesses. This grassroots organization is committed to ensuring that every client can live with dignity and self-respect.
Impact
Since its inception, AAP has provided over $13 million in direct client services to more than 2,750 individuals. Clients typically survive on an annual income of less than $18,735, and many remain on the client list for extended periods.
