Our Story

Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse, Inc. (AVDA) was established in 1984 by a dedicated coalition of Palm Beach County residents. Their mission was to create a safe haven for victims of domestic abuse. In 1985, AVDA became a nonprofit corporation, successfully raising funds to purchase and renovate a shelter. Over the years, AVDA has expanded its services to include emergency and transitional housing, advocacy, counseling, and educational outreach, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to empowering victims and promoting violence-free relationships.

Impact

AVDA responds to over 2,500 crisis calls annually, providing essential support to approximately 300 women, men, and children through its residential programs. The organization has also introduced economic empowerment programs, reaching over 375 adults in the 2020-2021 fiscal year.
