Our Story

Aid Africa began in 2004 when Ken Goyer traveled to Southern Uganda with an International Rotary Club project aimed at teaching efficient cooking methods using the Six Bricks Rocket Stove. This journey led to a profound encounter with the internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Lira, Northern Uganda, where the urgent needs of the poorest of the poor became evident. In 2005, Aid Africa launched its first project, installing stoves in the IDP camps, which not only provided a cleaner cooking method but also reduced the alarming rates of sickness and death among young children.

In 2009, as the Ugandan government closed the camps, Aid Africa adapted its approach to help families reestablish healthy and sustainable villages. Today, Aid Africa collaborates with numerous organizations to bring hope and assistance to the most vulnerable communities in Uganda, with a vision to rebuild 1,000 sustainable communities.

Our Impact

Aid Africa has successfully installed 4,505 stoves that burn less wood and earn carbon credits, significantly improving the quality of life for many families. The organization is committed to supporting development in 1,000 rural villages, aiming to enhance the lives of 100,000 Ugandans and future generations through clean water, healthcare, education, and sustainable farming practices.
