Our Story
Agape Village began with a vision from the Portland Central Church of the Nazarene to embody the greatest commandment: to love God and love our neighbor. In 2016, the church sought to understand the needs of the community and embarked on a journey to serve those in need. After a year of community engagement, the decision was made to create a tiny house village on church property, providing a safe haven for individuals seeking housing and support services.
In 2018, Agape Village was officially launched, and construction commenced with the help of dedicated volunteers from various organizations, including Cascadia Clusters, Agape Blitz, and Union Gospel Mission. This collaborative effort culminated in welcoming the first group of villagers in December 2019. Since then, Agape Village has expanded its services and partnered with Nexus Church in Beaverton to open a single-family shelter, furthering its mission to love God and love neighbors.
