Our Story

Founded in 2007 by Arturo O’Farrill, Belongó is committed to performing, educating about, and preserving the rich tapestry of music from all of the Americas, rooted in African and indigenous traditions. This organization serves as a vital artistic and educational hub, celebrating Latin music and culture in New York City.

Impact

Since its inception, Belongó has delivered over 870 performances, reaching more than 1 million viewers and providing music lessons to over 20,000 K-12 students. The organization also maintains an extensive archive of over 750 scores across 16 genres.
