Our Story
African People & Wildlife (APW) was co-founded in 2005 by Dr. Laly Lichtenfeld and Charles Trout. With a mission to create win-win solutions for people and wildlife in Tanzania, APW established the Noloholo Environmental Center on land donated by a local Maasai community. Together with over 200 Tanzanian program officers, educators, scientists, and community members, APW has developed a strategic approach to conservation that effectively addresses the challenges of human-wildlife interaction.
Impact
APW works tirelessly to ensure a future where humans and wild animals coexist and thrive. By partnering with communities, APW creates sustainable solutions that improve the lives of rural Africans while protecting the natural world.
