Our Story

The African Mothers Health Initiative began with a mission to save the life of a newborn after the tragic loss of his mother during childbirth. In Malawi, the heartbreaking reality is that when a mother dies, her healthy infant often follows due to poverty and lack of resources. AMHI is dedicated to ensuring the survival of these vulnerable infants and providing care for mothers suffering from chronic illnesses post-birth.

Impact

In Malawi, 6% of children do not reach the age of five, with 68% of these deaths occurring within the first year. By focusing on high-risk infants aged 0-1 year, AMHI has achieved a remarkable success rate, with over 95% of enrolled babies surviving. A donation of just $1500 can avert one tragic death.
