Our Story

Established in 2008, African Economic Development Solutions (AEDS) was founded by a dedicated group of immigrants who recognized the significant barriers faced by African immigrant communities in Minnesota. With a focus on addressing economic disparities, AEDS aims to empower these communities through business ownership and wealth creation. By leveraging cultural intelligence and an asset-based model, AEDS provides tailored financial literacy training, micro-entrepreneurship coaching, and homeownership education, ensuring that African immigrants can seize the opportunities available to them.

Impact

In 2023, AEDS deployed $2.0 million in loans and grants, served 718 businesses, assisted 147 clients in home ownership, and graduated 195 individuals in their Culturally Intelligent Business Program for Aspiring Entrepreneurs.
