Founded in 2001 by Merva Jackson, AFCAMP emerged from a critical needs assessment highlighting the lack of parent education for families of children with disabilities in the African Caribbean American community of Hartford, Connecticut. The organization is dedicated to educating and empowering parents about their rights and available services, ensuring that families can navigate the complexities of special education, juvenile justice, and health systems.
