Our Story

Since 1996, the African Blackwood Conservation Project has been dedicated to replanting the endangered Dalbergia melanoxylon tree in its native habitat of eastern Africa. Founded by Sebastian Chuwa, this initiative addresses the urgent need to combat the excessive harvesting of this vital species, which holds significant cultural and artistic value.

Impact

The ABCP has successfully distributed several hundred thousand mpingo seedlings, engaging schools, churches, and community organizations in replanting efforts. This has significantly contributed to the conservation of Dalbergia melanoxylon in Tanzania.
