Our Story

Founded in 1997 by Co-Founder and Executive Director Cheryl Roberts, the African American Alliance for Home Ownership Inc. (AAAH) emerged from a community-driven initiative to address the barriers faced by Portland's Black community in achieving homeownership. The first Homeownership Fair organized by AAAH marked the beginning of a journey towards economic empowerment through education and opportunity. In response to the Global Financial Crisis, AAAH expanded its services in 2008 to include Foreclosure Prevention Counseling, becoming a HUD-certified housing counseling agency dedicated to protecting and promoting Black homeownership.

Impact

AAAH plays a vital role in supporting affordable housing initiatives and homeowner retention in Portland.
