Our Story

Founded in 1980 by Father George Clements, the One Church One Child initiative was created to address the urgent need for permanent homes for African-American children in foster care. This compassionate movement led to the establishment of OCOC Texas in the late 1980s, which has been a pioneer in faith-based recruitment of foster and adoptive families since its incorporation in 1995.

Our Impact

OCOC has made significant strides in reducing the number of children needing permanent homes in Chicago from 1,000 in 1980 to just 150 by 1987. Through community engagement and dedicated support services, OCOC continues to uplift families and children in foster care.
