Our Story
For over 55 years, Activities Recreation and Care (ARC) has been dedicated to serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the greater Los Angeles area. Founded in 1969 by Mary Schallert and Dixie Henrikson, two mothers advocating for their daughters with Down Syndrome, ARC became a beacon of hope and support. Incorporated as a nonprofit in 1975, ARC has expanded its programs to empower individuals to become active community members.
