Our Story
In 1996, Mike Donelon identified a critical need for skate parks in Long Beach, where the popularity of skateboarding among youth was on the rise. Without safe locations to skate, kids were forced to skate in neighborhoods, leading to conflicts and accidents. Mike's advocacy led to the establishment of the Michael K. Green skate park in 2003, which resulted in a remarkable 60.9% drop in drug-related incidents and a 29.3% decrease in violent crime within three years. In 2011, he founded the Action Sports Kids Foundation to provide essential services to at-risk youth, using skateboarding as a gateway to engage them in community improvement efforts.
