Our Story
Acting Out Theatre Company was founded on December 13, 2010, with a vision to create environmental summer stock theatre. The journey began with a successful production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods in the enchanting setting of Perry Farm in the summer of 2011. Since then, a variety of summer shows have graced the stage, showcasing the incredible talent within the community.
Collaboration is at the heart of Acting Out. From 2011 to 2019, the company partnered with Bourbonnais Township Park District to bring the re-enactment of A Night in Sleepy Hollow to life each October. The process of environmental theatre involves selecting a show and finding the perfect location that enhances the narrative, blending the magic of theatre with practical production logistics.
