In the fall of 2002, a dedicated group of Alexandrians united to enhance philanthropic giving, inspired by the legacy of Norma L. Steuerle. Following her tragic passing on September 11, 2001, her family entrusted an initial fund to ACT for Alexandria, establishing a community foundation aimed at making a profound impact on local lives.
