Our Story

Edwin Sasek envisioned a sanctuary where individuals nearing the end of life could receive compassionate care in a serene environment. Together with his wife, Patsy, and a dedicated team, they brought this vision to life by founding ABODE Contemplative Care for the Dying. Inspired by the Mother Theresa House model, Edwin's experience as a hospice chaplain highlighted the urgent need for such a facility in San Antonio. With the support of volunteers, community partners, and generous donors, ABODE opened its doors, providing a mortgage-free home filled with love and support.
