Ability Housing

Our Story

Ability Housing opened its doors in 1992 as a group home for six adults with developmental disabilities. Recognizing the urgent need for quality affordable housing, the organization expanded its efforts to serve low-income households, adults with disabilities, and those exiting homelessness. In 2006, Ability Housing began developing multifamily rental housing at the request of the Northeast Florida Homeless Coalition, and in 2015, it expanded to Central Florida. Today, Ability Housing is a nationally recognized leader in developing high-quality, community-inclusive rental housing.

Impact

For over two decades, Ability Housing has created safe, sustainable, and beautiful properties that are affordable for residents. With 75% of those served identifying as BIPOC, 42% having experienced homelessness, and 37% living with a disability, the organization is committed to investing in each property while keeping rents affordable. This approach not only benefits residents but also enhances the community.
