Our Story

Founded in 1962 as Rehabilitation Programs, Abilities First began with a small education initiative known as the 'Little Red Schoolhouse.' Over the years, it has transformed into a vital resource for over 1,500 individuals and families across seven counties in the Hudson Valley, New York. The organization changed its name in 2008 to better reflect its mission of focusing on abilities rather than limitations.
