Our Story

In 1985, Gudrun Margret Palsdottir, a compassionate nurse from Iceland, witnessed the harsh realities of poverty in Central America. This life-changing experience ignited her passion for helping those in need, leading her to distribute books and uncover the alarming rates of illiteracy. In 1988, she founded ABC Children’s Aid with a dedicated team of eight Icelanders, initially focusing on literacy projects in Mexico. By 1990, the organization expanded its mission to the Philippines, providing education and shelter to homeless children. In 2007, ABC Children’s Aid International was launched to broaden its global impact.
