Our Story

The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) was founded in 1965 by A. Philip Randolph and Bayard Rustin to continue the struggle for social, political, and economic justice for all working Americans. With a rich history of advocating for the rights of black trade unionists, APRI has played a significant role in the civil rights movement, including the passage of the Voting Rights Act.

Our Impact

APRI has established 109 chapters across 31 states, mobilizing over 250 volunteers to advocate for social justice, voting rights, and economic equality. The organization has successfully influenced policy changes and raised awareness on critical issues affecting working Americans.
