Our Story
A Light in Dark Places began in the Spring of 2016 with a vision to utilize theater as a powerful medium to reach individuals impacted by suicide. This initiative started as an experiment, evolving into a play festival featuring five original short plays designed to foster awareness, understanding, and hope. Collaborating with the Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theatre in Los Angeles, along with Playground-LA for playwrights, the festival was a heartfelt endeavor that ran for one weekend in September. Each performance was followed by a Q&A session and a reception, allowing attendees to connect and process the themes presented in the plays. This inaugural production not only served as a platform for discussion but also set the foundation for future events aimed at breaking the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
