Our Story
The vision of A-CROSS began in 1992 when a group of compassionate citizens in Ennis felt called to create a sanctuary for families facing homelessness. Unlike traditional shelters, A-CROSS aims to provide a nurturing environment for hardworking individuals who have encountered temporary setbacks. With the generous donation of land by Daniel Russel, the journey commenced, leading to the establishment of two homes. However, due to maintenance challenges, these homes were sold to fund the construction of four apartments in 2005. In 2020, an additional four apartments were completed, bringing the total to eight fully functioning units.
Over the past three decades, A-CROSS has been a beacon of hope, providing shelter and support to hundreds of families in crisis. Each family is treated with love and care, allowing them to reset and breathe as they work towards independence. The organization focuses on mentoring clients in financial literacy, healthy relationships, and work habits, ensuring that the lessons learned are passed down to future generations.
