Our Story
In 1979, a group of dedicated parents in Houston County came together to create a grassroots organization aimed at providing alternatives for their loved ones with disabilities. Frustrated by the lack of local options, they established the first group home in Caledonia in 1980, later expanding to an intermediate care facility in La Crescent in 1982. This initiative evolved into ABLE, A Brighter Living Experience, reflecting a commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Impact
For over 45 years, ABLE Inc. has been a beacon of hope, serving more than 50 individuals and employing around 120 dedicated staff members in Southeast Minnesota.
